Summer National Championships 2016

The Guildford City “Green Army” will roll into the City of Sheffield next week to take on the best of the UK’s swimmers during the Summer National Championships. To be held at Pond’s Forge the British Championships followed by the ASA English Championships will run from 26 July to 5 August. The Club has a staggering 50+ swimmers competing across both of these competitions and in addition the National Open Water Championships plus the Welsh National Championships.


“ The stats are impressive” stated new HPS Lead Coach Lee Spindlow, “29 individuals + 12 relay teams have qualified for the British Champs, and 34 individuals have qualified for the ASA English Championships. Not to mention 12 swimmers attending the National Open Water Championships plus 2 going to Wales”.


Co Lead HPS Coach Josh Williamson continued, “ This has been a wonderful period for Guildford City starting with the youngsters winning the National Arena Junior League Final in November and in April the Club winning the National Arena League Final for the first time in our history.We want these Summer Nationals to provide a fitting end to this superb year.”


“It is like an army marching to the north” quipped Chief Coach Richard Garfield. “ We are very proud of all of our swimmers and their coaches. They have all worked incredibly hard to reach this level of success, now they have to go one step further and succeed on the national stage.”
