“Lead Teacher/Administrator needed to join our Academy”

We are looking for a Lead Teacher/Administrator to run the teaching pool programme for our Academy swimmers.
Applicants should be qualified to at least Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teacher or equivalent. The teaching post will also include administration of the programme and a background in admin work and understanding of Excel etc. is essential. The Lead will report to Jan Griffiths, Head of Academy.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate their love of the sport, have good communications skills, a flexible and enthusiastic approach to learning and be able to work well on their own and as part of a team.

The Academy teaching pool programme operates from Guildford Spectrum teaching pool and runs Monday to Friday from 6.00 to 8.00 pm with a capacity of 220 swimmers per week, ages ranging from four to 10 years.

The aquatic programme follows ‘The Guildford Way’, a unique in-house structure of lessons covering technique and competitive skills across all four strokes.

Guildford City is a Swim England SwimMark Club.

We are offering a career path for the successful applicant with mentoring from experienced coaches and the opportunity to acquire additional coaching qualifications within our highly successful Club.

This position is available immediately and will include two hours per day (Monday to Friday) teaching poolside, as well as attending meetings and training as required at various venues/via Zoom. The administration of the programme will be from home.

Our extraordinary team of over 90 highly qualified coaches and teachers deliver our unique teaching, training and partnership programmes from Learn to Swim all the way through to international swimmers.
We are a Swim England National Performance Centre and we work closely with Surrey University and Swim England. This allows swimmers to continue their swimming career whilst being able to achieve academic excellence, whilst still studying at the University and swimming at Surrey Sport Park under the Guildford City Coaching Team.
Our High Performance Squads (HPS) also swim exclusively at Surrey Sports Park which boasts a state of the art 50m pool as part of its facilities and the Club’s Academy swim at Spectrum Leisure Centre and the following school pools: Notre Dame, St Catherine’s & Guildford High School. Our Senior Competitive Development Squads train at Surrey Sports Park, Spectrum, Aldershot Garrison and Guildford High School.

We are frequently looking for qualified Swimming teachers:
L2 qualified swimming teachers to work within the Club’s own Academy – sessions are either weekday evenings from 5.30pm onwards or weekends.
L2 qualified teachers to work at Surrey Sports Park Swim Academy, teaching programme. Sessions are mainly from 3.45pm until evening, however, sessions may also be available during the day and late evenings.
(or L1 swimming teachers willing to take a L2 qualification – bursaries available).
The Club will need to apply for a DBS and references will be sought. You will also need to take an online Safeguarding and Protecting Children’s Course which can be arranged through the Club.
