Guildford City Master’s squad sent a small team to Scotland over the Easter weekend for the Scottish Short Course Championships in the Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.
Using it as a practice meet for the World Champs in the summer the team of Michael Hodgson, Richard Hope, Robert Doran, Jerry O’Riordan and ex national squad swimmer Hannah Dry dominated their respective age groups. Picking up 23 Golds (including both freestyle and medley relays), 2 Silvers and a Bronze. The men’s 160 plus relay team got in some useful practice in race condition for the summer.
The times were impressive from all, especially as they are in a hard training block at present and have not started to sharpen the sprint skill, and all swimmers competed in a gruelling programme of races. This is very positive for potential records over the next few months in the upcoming Nationals and more importantly the Worlds.
