British Summer Championships – Day 2 Lifetime bests, Finals and a Bronze Medal!

“Day 2 has produced some exciting summer nationals – we have a good mix of experience and rookie swimmers who are all supporting one another – a really great team atmosphere” comment Lewis Dunford.

In the 100 Back we had some great swimming from Tilly Hansen Hamilton in 1.09.17, Anna Pang 1.05.36, Alicia Wilson 1.05.58, Alicia went on to swim in the final coming 8th in a personal best time of 1.04.72 in the 16 years age group.

200 Breast – We had a large contingent of swimmers compete in this race with Katie Hodgson 2.40.57; Sophia Wilson had a fabulous swim coming 4th in the final in a lifetime best of 2.34.85; Tatiana Belongoff’s efforts also paid off with another medal, claiming Bronze in the 15 years in a time of 2.33.46; Sarah Tripp swam a lifetime best in 2.34.26 coming 6th in 17/18 years; Lucy Bean swam a seasons best in 2.33.09 coming 6th in the 19 years and over.

Congratulations to City’s Honorary Member Emma Day who won gold in the 19 years and over in a superb time of 2.26.94.

Coach Lee Spindlow commented on the swimming “We have had a large number of life time bests which has added to the excitement of the morning and is a great start to the campaign”.

In the Mens 100 back Alex Armstrong put in a great performance with a lifetime best of 1.02.36.

Molly Robinson and Anna Pang swam well in the 50 Fly in 29.31 and 28.13 respectively in their age groups. Anna went on to swim in the final coming 4th in the 19 years age group in 27.82.

“We have had a good share of finalists”, said Coach Josh Williamson “who are all doing their best to step up from the heats”.

In the men’s 50 Breast Luca Frankhauser put in a great swim in 33.11 in the 16 years age group. Sergie Chete in the 17/18 years also swam well in 30.90. Charlie Trotman had an exciting morning swimming 32.98 in the heats and then having to have a swim off finishing first with a Personal best of 32.95.

Ellenor Rixen put in a strong performance in the 800m free in a time of 9.19.01.

“We are very happy with our first 2 days of competition. Our team spirit is strong and certainly helping all of our swimmers reach their season targets” said Chief Coach Richard Garfield.
