Posted by with No Comments

Guildford has been selected to host a national swimming Performance Centre by Swim England, the national governing body for swimming.

Working in partnership with Guildford City Swimming Club and the University of Surrey, the Swim England Performance Centre will give talented young swimmers the opportunity to stay in the sport while continuing their education.

Grant Robins, Head of the Swim England Swimming Talent Programme, said: “We are delighted to be working with Guildford City Swimming Club and the University of Surrey on this project.

“The Performance Centre will help to expand and extend the Swim England Talent Programme by providing opportunities for swimmers to continue their training alongside their studies.

“The close link between the club and the university will help swimmers to make the move from the junior to senior swimming ranks, and also make the transition to the British Swimming World Class programme more accessible.”

Guildford is one of five areas to be selected to host a Swim England Performance Centre. It was selected following an application process and uses a partnership model to ensure long-term sustainability. The Swim England Talent Team will provide support through funding, coaching, and technical advice.
