Sally Williamson County Squad Coach said “this was a fantastic Club performance one of the best ever in the Relays. Of 18 events contested, Guildford won 14 of the Gold medals, backed up with 5 Silver and 7 Bronze”.
This final event of the County Championships, the team relays saw over 700 swimmers take part at the Crystal Palace pool.
The 16+ boys and girls won all 4 Golds in the 4×100 free and medley events with boys B team taking a silver and a bronze.
The girls and boys won their Open 4×200 free relays by some considerable distance.
The Under 16 girls missed out on Gold by 0.16secs in the 4×100 freestyle but convincingly won the Medley. The B team picked up bronze in the free and the C team took bronze in the medley event.
The Under 16 boys swam to Gold in the 4×100 free and bronze in the medley.
In the 12-13 age group the events are 4×50. The girls took silver and bronze in the medley and followed up with Gold and bronze in the freestyle. The boys squeezed to an exciting Gold in the free and took bronze in the medley.
The 9-11 boys were on fire swimming to Gold and silver in both 4×50 events – a great achievement. The girls, not to be outdone, took both Gold medals.
Guildford City have dominated this year’s County Championships. The major trophies were presented at the weekend with Guildford taking all three trophies – Ladies and Girls, Men and boys and the overall Age Group Tinlin Trophy, winning this for a staggering 10th year in a row.
A strong finish to the Surreys resulted in the 9-11year olds boys and girls winning both the Medley and Freestyle relays with the B teams also picking up medals.
The boys 12-13 year olds won the freestyle medley and took the bronze in the medley relay, the girls won the freestyle relay and the B and C teams were 3rd and 4th and were 2nd in the medley relay.
