Chief Coach Lee Spindlow was delighted with this year’s results, “We are extremely proud of all of our swimmers and their Coaches. The hard work throughout the year has once again paid off with these incredible results. Our Coaches continue to prove they are world class. Their athletic support and attention to detail in developing our swimmers is exceptional.
Director of Swimming Richard Garfield continued, “Steve Wadey and I took over the running of Guildford City in May 1998. At that point we were ranked 10th in Surrey with only 160 members. Most in the sport considered our ambition to be the #1 Surrey club to be slightly deluded!
As the Surrey County Championship results for 1998 show there was a big mountain to climb.

2 | Haslemere | 278 |
3 | Kingston | 243 |
4 | Leander | 227 |
5 | Woking | 196 |

7 | Epsom | 128 |
8 | Cranleigh | 123 |
9 | Croydon | 121 |
10 | Guildford City | 111 |
By 2004 we had settled in, risen to the top, and since then have never looked back. Twenty consecutive years! We look forward to the next twenty. This incredible run would not be possible without a major team effort. Thanks must go to all of our Coaches and teachers (present and past), administrative staff, Board of Trustees and Management Team. Truly an exceptional swimming family.”
