Shaping the Future of Swimming in the South East…
Guildford City is the leading swimming club in the South East of England (see our website for news articles and tweets about our many achievements). Our extraordinary team of over 90 highly qualified coaches and teachers deliver our unique teaching, training and partnership programmes from Learn to Swim all the way through to international swimmers.
We are a Swim England National Performance Centre and we work closely with Surrey University and Swim England. This allows swimmers to continue their swimming career whilst being able to achieve academic excellence, whilst still studying at the University and swimming at Surrey Sport Park under the Guildford City Coaching Team.
Our High Performance Squads (HPS) also swim exclusively at Surrey Sports Park which boasts a state of the art 50m pool as part of its facilities and the Club’s Academy swim at Spectrum Leisure Centre and the following school pools: Cranmore, Notre Dame, St Catherine’s & Guildford High School. Our Senior Competitive Development Squads train at Surrey Sports Park, Spectrum, Aldershot Garrison and Guildford High School.
Coaching vacancies will be advertised on this page when available. Teaching vacancies are shown below.
We are frequently looking for qualified Swim England teachers:
L2 teachers to work at Surrey Sports Park Swim Academy, teaching programme. The hours are mainly from 3.30pm until evening and there may be various hours in between. Hours may also be available during the day and late evenings.
L1 or L2 qualified Swim England teachers to work within the Club’s own Academy or Spectrum JSS, Academy is either weekday evenings from 6pm onwards or weekends. Spectrum JSS (L2s only) is from 15.45 onwards weekdays or Saturday morning.
The Club will need to apply for a DBS and references will be sought. You will also need to take an online Safeguarding and Protecting Children’s Course which can be arranged through the Club. L1 teaching positions are very limited due to insurance restrictions (see L1 bursaries below)
Applying for a paid or volunteer Post or bursary application
The first step for paid or voluntary job applications, is to complete the online staff application form shown below and follow this up with an email.
BURSARIES*
All bursaries depend on the needs of the business and are budget limited. For instance we will only give out bursaries if we have a vacancy that cannot be filled in any other way.
Priority for bursaries is given to Club members or Surrey University swimmers, and in particular to those who already have a L1 teaching qualification and can work for at least 2 years from the date of their L2 qualification.
L1 bursaries are very limited and are only given on a business need basis. These are mainly given to members who have volunteered for the Club for some time, however there is a waiting list for these.
Bursaries for upgrading teaching qualifications and coaching Bursaries are available for employed staff on a business need basis.
