Emma Day

Emma Day – Club Captain 2014-2015

I followed my sister into swimming when I was 5. My best strokes are 200m Fly and 200/400IM but I try to compete in other events too. My best achievement was winning silver medals in 200 FLY and 200IM at the European Junior Championships in Poznan, Poland. Later that year I won silver in the medley relay at the World Junior Championships in Dubai. My future ambition is to be the best that I can be and to enjoy wherever that may take me.

I am currently in year 13 studying for A levels in PE, Psychology, Business at Godalming College, trying to balance college work with swimming. I am also learning to drive and have passed my theory test.
My swimming role model is Hannah Miley as I respect her hard work and positive attitude. I also admire Jessica Ennis-Hill and was lucky enough to see her win gold at the London Olympics.

I enjoy being at Guildford City as I have lovely friends who make a tough session fun. The coaches work hard to get the best out of me and encourage me to follow my dreams. Swimming in many competitions over the years I have made friends all over the country and look forward to seeing them at galas.

My tips for any younger aspiring swimmers are to work hard, keep positive and enjoy your swimming.
