Sue Barney Announces Early Retirement

Posted by with No Comments

Sue Barney has decided to retire early at the end of the year and it is with much sadness that the Club will have to say goodbye.

Sue has been with Guildford City since 2005 as the Head of the Academy and has been at the forefront of changing the club from one with only a couple of hundred members to the successful club it is today with over 1000 members.

Sue has seen many of her Academy swimmers successfully move on to different parts of the Club including swimmers who have graduated to the High Performance Squads. Sue has enjoyed watching a number of them achieve British National qualifying times as well as numerous finals and Podium places. Sue will continue to enjoy watching the website for news of swimmers as they continue to move through the Club and has said she will miss being part of such an exciting and forward thinking Club.

Obviously we are delighted for Sue that she and her husband are able to take such an early opportunity and wish them a long and happy retirement together. Once Sue retires she is planning to travel abroad with her husband who has already retired.

We will be starting the process of trying to find a replacement for Sue shortly and wish her all the best as she plans her new life.
