MKJL: Outstanding Win for City’s Junior Swimmers

Guildford City’s U12 junior swimmers swam an impressive Gala on Saturday at the Milton Keynes Junior League which took place at the Temple Cowley Pool in Oxford. The team came first with 19 first and 17 second places. They scored a total of 245 gala points against the second team Hillingdon with 210.

The team was ably captained by Sophia Wilson and Charlie Trotman – The swimmers travelled once more to Oxford by coach for the final round of Milton Keynes Junior League to endeavour to win the League. This they did in some style!

Of 17 relays swum they won 8 and were runners up in 7 more culminating in a magnificent triumph in the squadron relay being metres in front of any of their opposition.

Isabella Fakkel and Deniz Yalcinkaya won 2 individual events each. Max Windle Jordon McPhail Toby Stewart John Mochida Charlie Trotman Hugh Wason and Noa Doest also swam to individual first places.

The whole team were awarded medals. They brought home trophies for the win on the night and most importantly the League Cup. Guildford now go forward to represent the League in the Southern Final.

Coaches Laura Henry Sally Williamson Steve Wadey Andy Browning and Jo Tierney were all delighted with the team’s spirit and performance – pretty amazing having been less than a week back in training!
