Guildford City has broken its own record with Surrey County Championship entries for 2013.

With the series of galas set to kick off on 2 March the Club will be sending 151 individuals competing in 1153 events. This compared with last year’s record setting statistics of 130 individuals competing in 943 events.

Chief Coach Richard Garfield was delighted with the response from the swimmers, “This reflects the very broad depth in strength we have as a Club and in particular the evolution of our Competitive Development Squads as a force to be reckoned with. Quite how we are going to fit 150 swimmers and their Coaches on one side of the pool at the Spectrum will be a challenge but certainly one we are looking forward to having.”

City launched their 2013 County Championships campaign with the prospect of being Top Age Group Club for the tenth consecutive year thus tying the all time record held by Leatherhead Swimming Club. Head of Skills Development, Steve Wadey commented “We have been the Top Club in Surrey since 2004 – if we are focused and perform well – success in 2013 could be ten straight years at the top”
