City Runners Up @ National Arena League Final

Guildford City showed their depth in strength on Sunday 22 April coming a fantastic second place at the 49th annual Arena League Cup Final held in Cardiff.

The 48 swimmers (a City record) battled hard in every event ensuring the Surrey based TYR sponsored Club gained a creditable second place by a comfortable margin.

Chief Coach Richard Garfield was delighted “We came 4th in 2017 having been champions in 2016 – this result is very clearly heading us back in the right direction. All credit to the swimmers and Coaches – they raised their game in Cardiff. Particular thanks to our supporters who were fantastic and really helped lift the swimmers to achieve their best. Be assured we are already planning for our 2019 campaign”

Tatiana Belonogoff won the award for best senior female swimmer with a blistering pb of 1:08:99 when she came first in the 100 Breaststroke. Other winners were:
9 to 11 Boys in both the Medley & Freestyle Relays ( Leo Cruz- O’Dwyer, Jamie Pickering, Jamie Tappin, Fergus Thomson,Benjamin Ottey,Andrew Brett)
9 to 11 Girls Medley Relay (Lara Turan, Isabella Dash,Lottie Roberts,Hollie Widdows)
Girls Senior 100m Back – Alicia Wilson
Girls under 12 50m Breaststroke – Louise Bressler
Girls under 16 100m Free – Caroline Laursen
Boys under 14 100m Free – Josh Shaw
12 to 13 Boys Freestyle Team (Josh Shaw, Kenzie Russell, Deniz Yalcinkaya,
Harry Dibdin)
