Piers Bowden swam well in the Men’s 200 Free gaining a PB in the heats which earned him a place in the finals where he came 10th in 2.01.88. Henry Offin was still on good form where he swam 1.58.96 in the heats which put him in the finals where he came 9th in 1.57.54. Joe Clark swam a PB in the heats in 1.54.09 and was 1st reserve for the finals.
In the Women’s 100 breast Amy Hodgson had a strong swim in the heats in 1.17.07. Sophia Wilson gained a place in the final and swam an amazing lifetime best of 1.13.80 finishing in 5th place. Lucy Bean also swam very well gaining a PB in the heats in 1.12.42 and then went on to get 8th in the final in a lifetime best of 1.11.40. Sarah Tripp who has had a great Nationals swam a personal best in the heats in 1.11.87 and then when on to gain 5th in the final in a lifetime best of 1.10.60. Tatiana Belongoff had a strong swim in the heats in 1.10.75 and then blew her competition out of the water with a lifetime best of 1.09.78 earning her the gold medal in the 15 years age group.
Jordon McPhail and Alex Armstrong both swam in the Men’s 200 back where the put in good performances. They both gained lifetime bests in 2.19.83 and 2.15.24 respectively.
In the Women’s 100 fly Alicia Wilson swam the heat in 1.06.32.
Luca Frankenhauser swam a great PB in the Men’s 50 fly in 28.39.
The final races of the day were the exciting Relays:
In the 14/16 years 4 x 100 IM relay Guildford B team comprised of Kate Windle, Amy Hodgson, Ciara Walsh and Ellenor Rixon. The team swam very well gaining a PB on their entry time finishing in 4.33.33. Guildford A team had a phenomenal swim in the heats with a 5 second improvement on their start time coming first in 4.18.50. The team of Sophia Wilson, Tatiana Belongoff, Alicia Wilson and Molly Robinson then went on to gain a further improvement in their time and won a well-deserved Bronze medal in 4.16.62.
In the 17 years and Over 4 x 100 IM relay team, Lucy Bean, Ella Windle, Katie Hodgson and Georgia Smith put in a strong performance gaining a personal best over their entry time of 4.27.85.
The last event of the day was the Mens 4 x 100 IM relay we had Alex Armstrong, Sam Nickson, Henry Offin and Piers Bowden swimming a 4.08.64 in the heats and then went on to improve on that time by nearly 5 seconds finishing 9th in the final in 4.03.36.
In the Men’s 17 years and Over we had 2 teams: Guildford B team of Rubens King, Sergiu Chete, Connor Brunt and Jamie Cunningham put in a fine performance in the heats of 4.00.29. Guildford A team Joe Clark, Chris Green, Riaan Steyn and Charlie Pullan who in the heats gained a great PB in 3.53.60 and they then went on to finish 6th in the final in another PB of 3.51.48.
